Das Aktienhaus
Als Hof im Jahr 1857 ein Bezirksgericht erhielt, gründete sich ein Hausbauverein, um den Beamten des Gerichts angemessenen Wohnraum zur Verfügung stellen zu können.
Der „Verein“ war eigentlich eine Aktiengesellschaft, die am Oberen Tor 5 und an der Theaterstraße 6 zwei Häuser bauen ließ. Die Grundstücke wurden von der Stadtverwaltung kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt, so dass die Mieten günstig waren.
Das Aktienhaus am Oberen Tor ging 1899 an die Oberfränkische Bank. 1919/20 zog das Kaufhaus „B. Feldmann Nachfolger“ (im Eigentum von Moritz Falk und Heinrich Posener aus Dresden) ein, das sich auf alle Stockwerke des Gebäudes ausbreitete; vorher hatten sich im Erdgeschoss Läden und in den Obergeschossen Beamtenwohnungen befunden.
Da es sich um ein Kaufhaus in jüdischem Eigentum handelte, ging es im Zuge der „Arisierung“ (Zwangsenteignung) im Frühling 1938 in das Eigentum der Kaufleute Müller und Pulvermüller aus Schweinfurt über. Unter dem Namen Pulvermüller ist das Kaufhaus vielen älteren Hofern noch bekannt.

When Hof was given a district court in 1857, a house building association was founded in order to provide the court officials with suitable living space.
The "association" was actually a public limited company that had two houses built at Oberes Tor 5 and Theaterstraße 6. The plots were provided free of charge by the city council, so the rents were cheap.
The stock corporation building at Oberes Tor went to the Oberfränkische Bank in 1899. In 1919/20, the department store "B. Feldmann Nachfolger" (owned by Moritz Falk and Heinrich Posener from Dresden) moved in, occupying all floors of the building; previously there had been stores on the first floor and apartments for civil servants on the upper floors.
As it was a Jewish-owned department store, it became the property of the merchants Müller and Pulvermüller from Schweinfurt in the spring of 1938 in the course of "Aryanization" (forced expropriation).
The department store is still known to many older residents of Hof under the name Pulvermüller.

Když byl v roce 1857 Hofu přidělen okresní soud, bylo založeno sdružení pro stavbu domů, které mělo úředníkům soudu poskytnout vhodné bydlení.
Tento "spolek" byl ve skutečnosti akciovou společností, která nechala postavit dva domy na adresách Oberes Tor 5 a Theaterstraße 6. Pozemky poskytla městská rada zdarma, takže nájemné bylo příznivé.

Protože se jednalo o obchodní domy židovských majitelů, přešly v rámci "arizace" (nuceného vyvlastnění) na jaře 1938 do vlastnictví obchodníků Müllera a Pulvermüllera ze Schweinfurtu. Mnoho starších obyvatel Hofu zná obchodní domy dodnes pod názvem Pulvermüller.
